Cosmeceuticals: Practical Solutions for Common Problems

Thursday, October 4 (16.30 – 18.30)

Cosmeceuticals play an important role in management of common dermatological conditions – both as a first line treatment for mild/moderate disorders or as adjuvant when more invasive or clinical therapy is required. The new understanding of the origins of common dermatological disorders coupled with the availability of new biomolecular research techniques have contributed to rapid advances in cosmeceutical technology. This symposium will review the latest research, etiologic understanding and pharmacology of the most common cosmeceuticals for the treatment of skin health, anti-aging, seborrheic dermatitis, and hair health. The participant will be able to identify and recommend the latest cosmeceutical ingredients and treatment strategies for their patients. In addition, a review of industry safety protocols and issues will help dermatologists ensure the safety of their patients using cosmetic products.
