Skin and Anti-aging Research Update

Thursday, October 4 (8.45 – 10.45)

Changes in skin health and disorders related to aging are common and can have both a medical and a psychological impact on patients.  These disorders can be intensified by medical treatment and/or patient habits and range from severe skin dryness to UV damaged skin.  The appearance of these conditions can affect patients’ quality of life due to compromised skin appearance and perceived health and age.  Treatment can be difficult due to the challenges of delivering appropriate materials to the skin without irritation and in a cosmetically acceptable form to encourage patient compliance.  In many cases, product pharmacology can be as important as the medical active in achieving the desired therapeutic result.  This course will emphasize the diagnosis and practical treatment of these common, but distressing, conditions.
