INTRODUCTION

A recent global study (Base Size = 2000) showed that 2 of the biggest unmet needs for women who use facial make-up are long wear related i.e. "make-up won't transfer" and "makeup stays fresh all day". Women with color and texture correction needs are currently unsatisfied with the quality and longevity of wear they achieve from their facial make-up. In addition, the study showed that 80% of women "need to have" or "would like to have" a long wear benefit from their make-up. A new 2-step system provides all day wear for women with color and/or texture correction needs.

OBJECTIVE

To design a liquid make-up system that would deliver outstanding appearance benefits for women who are interested in texture minimization together with excellent lasting benefits, even in the presence of heat and humidity.

PrepStep Appearance Benefits

TEXTURE CORRECTION

Elastomer rich PrepStep delivers a texture smoothing benefit. Example on right after application of PrepStep shows a 40% reduction in texture and over 60% reduction in the appearance of pores*.

REDNESS REDUCTION

ZnO in formula helps reduce redness and even out skin tone. Formula also delivers SPF 14.

PrepStep Skin Care Benefits

The PrepStep also moisturizes the skin (5% glycerol) and protects the skin against sun exposure (SPF 14).

CONCLUSIONS

The results achieved using our 2-step system confirmed our hypothesis that a smoothing

PrepStep followed by a long lasting color coat would deliver outstanding appearance and wear benefits. Proof of performance testing confirmed that the product delivers a flawless appearance benefit after 8 hours, even in the presence of heat and humidity.

In-Use Proof of Performance

Test Design: 100 women were asked to wear and evaluate the 2-step make-up system in a hot and humid climate ( 84/72% humidity).

Results:

89% agreed the 2-step system

"provided long wearing coverage after 8 hours".

81% agreed the 2-step system

"looked fresh and flawless after 8 hours".
