James R. Schwartz, PhD

James Schwartz, PhD, is an expert on cosmeceutical pharmacology and serves as a P&G Research Fellow for his work in identification and development of product technologies for skin care, personal cleansing and hair care products. Dr. Schwartz is recognized as an industry-wide resource for expertise on surfactants, polymers and skin.

Dr. Schwartz serves as a member on a number of national organizations, including the American Chemical Society, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, and an adjunct member of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Schwartz is an accomplished scientist and holds more than 25 patents and has helped to publish 12 scientific articles and book chapters on a range of topics including, dandruff, physiology and pharmacology, and cosmeceutical metals, which have been published in journals such as of Investigative Dermatology - Symposium Proceedings, Dermatologic Surgery, and the Journal of Exogenous Dermatology.  Dr. Schwartz has been invited to speak about his scientific findings at numerous prestigious medical meetings including, the Fifteenth Iberian-Latin American Congress of Dermatology, the First Annual Chinese Dermatologist Association Meeting, and the Society of Dermatology Skin Care Specialists Annual Meeting. Dr. Schwartz completed his undergraduate studies at Kenyon College and received his PhD at the University of Illinois. After receiving his doctorate, Dr. Schwartz joined the Research & Development department of P&G Beauty.
